My all-natural cough syrup has been a big hit in our house as we all just got slammed with colds. It is very effective in soothing sore throats and helping to reduce symptoms by boosting the immune system. So, for my last giveaway of my 1-year blogaversary month-long celebration, you can enter to win the ingredients you’ll need to make your own cough syrup at home using licorice, echinacea, cinnamon and ginger. You’ll just need honey, which is best if bought from a local farm.

  6. Cinnamon. I love cinnamon, all good things have cinnamon, mom’s kitchen- for one! Honey and cinnamon tea in the morning! honey and cinnamon by the spoon for itchy throats, and sorry but good cinnamon buns are the world’s best yumm!!

  7. I like cooking with thyme and sage – so many wonderful herbs. I might have to try the homemade cough syrup. I like home remedies. We do warm honey and lemon for scratchy throat. Also, if you mix 2 parts eucalyptus oil to 1 part peppermint oil in a little spray bottle and give a couple of spritzes in your steamy shower, it is great for clearing your sinuses.

  10. I like the idea of making my own cough syrup. You never know just what is in the bottle of manufactured cough remedies. My favorite
    herb would be ginger. I like so many but ginger has so many uses and tastes great too.

  11. It’s okay to heat honey (not in microwave) as long as you don’t boil it. Great recipe.

  17. My favorite herb has to lavender. I love all the uses for it (soap, scrubs, EO’s, bath teas..etc). It’s my total de-stresser and pick me up on those depressing days. One sniff and it just brightens my day.
