Making Autumn Decorations with Salt Dough – Herbstdeko mit Salzteig

Autumn is here, and we are excited to make autumn decorations with salt dough (Herbstdeko fit Salzteig)! We made some autumn decorations using salt dough (Salzteig), with leaves and flowers we found in our yard. We had a lot of fun!

Making German Autumn Decorations with Saltdough (Herbstdeko mit Salzteig!)

We LOVE celebrating fall and wanted to try some new-to-us German autumn traditions with our kids. One of those traditions is to make German autumn decorations with salt dough (Salzteig) and flowers and leaves you can find outside. So we spent a beautiful sunny day making these lovely and very German decorations together. There are many silly moments in this video, as our two youngest are TOTAL hams! Hope you enjoy it and it makes you as happy as it made us.

Then, we went outside to split some wood to be able to use this winter. Kevin taught all of the kids how to use an ax, and it was a lot of fun! Then, we started a fire and got cozy. We hope you feel happy, cozy, and warm as you watch our video and welcome in the beautiful autumn season.

Our Story

In February 2021, we packed up our American family of six, with four kids ages 11 and under, and moved halfway across the world to Germany to follow our dream of living in Europe again! When we were first married, we lived for two years in France and fell in love with the European way of life. Moving to Germany has been a whirlwind, especially with four kids in tow, but we’re already growing stronger and better from the experiences we are having. It has NOT been easy, but that’s how it usually is in life when you go after your dreams!
