It’s our first Christmas in Germany! We’re so excited to blend our old, American holiday traditions with new, German holiday traditions. Watch as we trim the tree and get ready for Christmas.
O Tannenbaum (or O Christmas Tree)
Did you know that the Christmas tree tradition all began in what is known today as Germany? I write, what is known today as Germany, because it truly began thousands of years ago with the Celts who lived in the Germanic territories, long before Germany was a unified country. Anyway, in this video, I share with you the history of the Weihnachtsbaum (Christmas Tree) while we decorate our own tree and show you some of our special Christmas ornaments and decorations we brought with us from the USA. You’ll get all the cozy, Christmas vibes and really get into the holiday spirit!

In February of 2021, we packed up our American family of six, with four kids ages 11 and under, and moved halfway across the world to Germany to follow our dream of living in Europe again! When we were first married, we lived for two years in France and fell in love with the European way of life. Moving to Germany has been a whirlwind, especially with four kids in tow, but we’re already growing stronger and better from the experiences we are having. It has NOT been easy, but that’s how it usually is in life when you go after your dreams!
