Free Crochet Patterns for a Cluster V-Stitch Headband and Rosette

This is my new favorite headband, and this time, it's for ME! Just in time for Mother's Day. I wore it today as I taught yoga and it kept the hairs out of my face. It's very similar to the V-Stitch Headband I just wrote about, but is a thicker V, which I like better. The Cluster V-Stitch is a satisfying stitch to work with because it's an interesting pattern, but easy to do. This was the very first stitch I learned after learning how to double crochet, and made a whole baby blanket for my little Grayson from it. Art of Crochet by Teresa has a great video from which you can learn as well, but I also have a photo tutorial below.

The pattern for the rosette can be found here.

It's quick and easy to work up, and can be made for any size head by adjusting how many rows you work.

Step #1: After you've already started your first cluster v-stitch, continue working by chaining 3.

Step #2: YO, insert hook into the chain 1 space (or just chain if you're just starting the headband), and pull up a loop.

Step #3: YO, pull through first two loops on the hook. There are two loops that remain.

Step #4: YO, insert hook back into the same chain, and pull up a loop. There are now four loops on the hook.

Step #5: YO and pull through the first 2 loops on the hook (3 loops remain)

Step #6: YO and pull through the last 3 loops on the hook. Half of the Cluster-V stitch is done!

Step #7 – CH 1 and repeat steps 1 to 6

To make the flower leaf: chain 6

In the second chain from the hook, work 1 single crochet, Then work 1 HDC in each of the next 2 stitches, and 1 DC in each of the next two stitches. Fasten off and you're done!

Merry Crocheting!
