Long lashes that are also full without irritating and toxic chemicals is a reality now! Here’s my secret lash serum that works really well, and it’s so easy to make and use.
Gimme Disney Princess Lashes!
Long lashes are IN, as every woman already knows! But are those eyelash serums online safe?
Patients with glaucoma started noticing their eye drop medication was giving them amazing lashes! Woohoo! An awesome side effect, right? Well, at first. The secret ingredient is isopropyl cloprostenate, a synthetic prostaglandin.
There’s a makeup company that came out with a lash serum in 2016 using that secret ingredient that I can’t even begin to pronounce, and I was seeing pictures all over social media of the incredible lash growth these women were having! I was tempted to get it but couldn’t help but with it being so close to my eyes, and with my strong desire to be able to SEE, I didn’t risk. It also costs a whopping a $150!
What are the side effects of synthetic Prostaglandin?
Prostaglandins are chemical compounds found in naturally within almost all of our body’s tissue that are responsible for signaling inflammation within the body. But this synthetic version has been associated with common symptoms of inflammation around the eyes like swollen lids (also called chemosis), redness, itching, and watering. FDA clinical testing show about 4% of Latisse users experience itching, redness, and watering, while a much lower number experience an allergic reaction causing the eyelids to swell. And causing irreversible dry eye. What? No thanks! Google it and you’ll see stories and videos from many beauty bloggers who have had bad experiences with trying to get those disney princess long lashes with the products!
In addition to chronic irritation, Latisse has also been known to darken the eyelid skin and the color of the iris in people with light brown or hazel eyes, as well as potentially causing a sunken eye appearance by shrinking the layers of orbital fat around the eye socket. – eyedolatry.com

I know 4% isn’t much, but I really don’t want to use myself as a lab rat and find out if I’ll be one of the 4%, so…nope! So I decided to use my trusty oils for gorgeous lashes instead.
And whaadya know…it worked! Really well! Check out my long lashes (and you get to see all of my eye flaws)!
Can you tell this is a real, untouched picture? I didn’t even take the time to get rid of the dark circles under my eyes! LOL
- 8 ml of carrier oil (a little less than a tablespoon) (my favorite for this is fractionated coconut oil)
- 2 drops Lavender (I get all of my oils from Young Living)
- 2 drops Cedarwood (I get all of my oils from Young Living)
- 2 capsules of Vitamin E oil (optional)
- Empty mascara tube
Or add to your current tube of mascara
Another way to do this is to add a drop of each oil to your current mascara tube. Essential oils are very strong and can break down plastic, so it could harm your mascara tube, just FYI. It didn’t harm mine and I was using a tube from Neutrogena.
How to Use
Just fill your tube with the above ingredients. Apply to your lashes every night before going to bed. Essential oils are potent and powerful, so if you’ve never used them before or find this recipe to be too strong, just do 1 drop of each oil, or just 1 drop of Cedarwood.
Long Lashes with Essential Oils
I like to add essential oils to pretty much everything, even my water and brownies! They have radically helped my family of six to stay well and healthy, and thrive! I use essential oils a LOT for making my home smell incredible. I use my diffusers daily, too, and they have replaced toxic scented candles.
I get all of my oils from Young Living – they are the only company I trust. Learn more here! Or if you love Instagram, check out my account or go to @wholelifeoils. I also have a website just for my team – check it out here!
