Photo Tutorial
To work this free easy crochet heart pattern, I've provided a full photo tutorial!
Step 1
Work a magic ring, or chain 3 and slip stitch to close the ring. Then, chain 1 (this counts as your first single crochet stitch) into the middle of the ring. Then, work 9 double crochets through the middle of the ring. The last stitch is a single crochet. Then join the circle with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 1. (The picture below has one mistake – that last stitch in the circle that is supposed to be a single crochet is actually a double crochet – made a mistake during the photo shoot. Had to make note of that for your experts out there with trained eyes!)
Step 2
To start round two, we will not work any chains. Instead, skip 2 double crochets (or just one stitch space) from the first round and in the next space, work 3 double crochets.
Step 3
In the next space, work 1 double crochet and 1 half double crochet.
Step 4
Work 3 single crochets in the next space.
Step 5
To make the point of the star, work 1 half double crochet, then one double crochet in the next space. In the space after that, work 1 double crochet then 1 half double crochet (in the same space).
Step 6
Working back on the other side of the heart, we repeat what we did on the first side, but work backwards. So, start with 3 single crochets in the next space.
Step 7
For the last stitches of the heart – in the next space, work 1 half double crochet, then 1 double crochet. In the space after that, work 3 double crochets.
Step 8:
In the next space, work a slip stitch. Then, work another slip stitch in the middle of the next post. Slip stitch to knot it closed and cut the tail.
Done!
Now go make 8 of these to use in our mini mystery crochet-a-long (CAL)!
