Create Habits You Need for a Clean and Decluttered Home in Just 21 Days!
Day 5 – Hot Spot Clean Up!
What were some of the negative thoughts or beliefs you discovered yesterday that will stop you from succeeding? What is the truth to cancel out that lie?
Here are the daily habits we've built so far:
- Get dressed to shoes
- Shine the kitchen sink
- Check your post-it, phone or written daily reminders
- Become aware of a few of your negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones
Today we are going to take only two minutes to clean a hot spot! A hot spot is a place in your house where things tend to collect. Places like a desk, top of a dresser, a table, and kitchen countertops are the usual hot spot magnets. Set your timer for only two minutes and tackle one hot spot. The point here is not to completely finish but to get started and create a habit of regularly tackling hot spots. You'll probably be surprised by how much you can finish in two minutes, though!
Have Fun with Your Timer
Cilley says to use your timer or a stopwatch to time yourself as you get dressed, make your bed, empty the dishwasher, etc. Once I started doing this I was amazed at how little time it actually takes to do basic household chores! It helped my mindset to realize, this isn't hard or time-consuming. This chore will go fast and then I have more time for me and my family!
Two Hot Spots a Day
We will be addressing two hot spots a day. If your house is currently full of clutter, these four minutes a day are going to seriously add up for you! You'll be amazed at how much more clean and organized your home will be by even the end of next week.
